Swale Borough Council boat trip September 2006

A party from Swale Borough Council accepted the club's invitation to tour the creek by yacht on 25 September 2006.

As shown in the photo, three yachts turned up at the club's base at Murston Wharf to collect the SBC party.

The boats were late in arriving owing to delays at Kingsferry Bridge. After a rushed but otherwise superb buffet lunch in the board room of Topbond plc, with a splendid view of the creek, the party was taken in the three yachts to the head of the creek then down to the Swale before being disembarked again at Murston Wharf. The rain stopped for the duration of the trip and we were treated to the delightful sight of kingfishers flitting between the banks. Recently otters, seals and egrets have also been seen.

For many in the party it was a revelation to see Sittingbourne and Milton from the water. The club looks forward to working with the Council in developing the leisure potential of the Milton Creek and adjacent Church Marshes for local citizens and visitors.
